Controversial Trump Billboard Removed in Union; Activist Vows Suit

UNION, NJ – A billboard for a film called “Our Leader the Idiot” about President Trump was removed from Morris Avenue in Union Wednesday evening.

The news came as a surprise to Neil Harrison, the activist who paid for the billboard that went up last week.

“I believe in a binding contract,” he said in an email to Tapinto Union Wednesday night.  “Out Front Media is not only in breach of our written agreement, they have breached what is an American’s first amendment rights.”

Harrison continued, “They [Out Front Media] have showed no good faith and have not the guts to withstand critics. They knew exactly what they put up.”

“We want to thank Out Front Media for taking down the divisive billboard on Morris Avenue,” said Union Public Information Officer Natalie Pineiro. “In these times what we need is unity, and we are proud that Union can continue to represent that, not only to our residents, but the rest of the county.”

“My attorney will file suit,” Harrison concluded.  “I will continue to promote my film and my cause.”

This action came 24 hours after the Township Committee passed a resolution disavowing the billboard.

The resolution reads in part, “The Township of Union does not support hate speech of any kind in the Township of Union, nor does it support or condone a billboard in the Township of Union that is critical of the sitting President of the United States.”
