Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill Chairs Field Hearing on Lead in Drinking Water – TAPinto.net

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ), Chairwoman of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee’s Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight,  hosted Members of Congress in Bloomfield, New Jersey, for a field hearing titled “Addressing the Lead Crisis through Innovation & Technology.” The event took place at the Early Childhood Center at Forest Glen gymnasium.

Members and witnesses discussed the prevalence and effects of lead in drinking water and the challenges that local leaders face in addressing lead contamination. Committee Members will also consider innovative, science-based solutions for anticipating risk and preventing contamination and explore research opportunities to help municipalities reduce lead exposure more quickly and cost-effectively.
