Chocolate and Coconut Star in Hello Dollies, A TAPinto Holiday Classic Perfect for Family Baking Night – TAPinto.net

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Bar cookies like Hello Dollies are a great activity for families with younger children, the kids simply layer the assembled and measured ingredients. Aside from chopping nuts and removing hot cookie sheets from the oven, the children can most certainly declare “I did it myself!”

1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs

1 stick melted butter (1/2 cup)

1-2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup of chopped pecans (substitute walnuts or butterscotch chips)

1 cup sweetened shredded coconut

1 (14 ounces) can sweetened condensed milk

 Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 13×9 baking dish with cooking spray. Set baking dish aside.

In a bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs with the melted butter, then press the crumb mixture down evenly into the bottom of the baking dish.

Layer the chocolate chips, chopped nuts, coconut onto the graham crumb crust.

Put the condensed milk into a glass measuring cup and microwave it for 1 minute. Pour evenly over the entire mixture. 

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until top is light brown. Let cool completely before cutting into bars. Store covered at room temperature.
