Child killed, 6 others hurt in crash on N.J. highway, authorities say – NJ.com
A child died and six others were hurt Wednesday night when a minivan overturned and crashed with a car on a highway in Cumberland County, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 11:25 p.m. when a Toyota Sienna went off State Route 55 near milemarker 34.6 in Vineland, and “then overturned into lanes of travel,” Sgt. Alejandro Goez, of the New Jersey State Police, said in an email.
A 20-year-old woman driving a car crashed into the overturned minivan. The woman was taken to Cooper University Hospital with moderate injuries, Goez said.
The driver of the minivan, a 35-year-old woman from Camden, was also taken to Cooper hospital with moderate injuries, Goez said.
Five juveniles were ejected from the minivan. One of them, identified Thursday only as a male about 5 or 6 years old, died at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of relatives.
Four other juveniles were seriously hurt and taken to Cooper hospital, Goez said. The crash remains under investigation, Goez said.
