Cedar Grove Security/Safety Bond Referendum Passes 3 to 1

CEDAR GROVE, NJ – Cedar Grove voters approved a $2.9 million bond referendum on Tuesday which will pay for security and safety upgrades at all Cedar Grove schools.  A total of 1,075 votes were cast, with 809 in favor and 266 against the referendum.  

“I want to thank the Cedar Grove community for its overwhelming support for our referendum,” said Board of Education President Christine Dye.  “The fact that it passed 3 to 1 speaks volumes to our community’s commitment to the welfare of our students and staff.  Thank you everyone who contributed to this effort.”

Upgrades included in the plan are:

  • Security vestibules at all schools
  • Video surveillance upgrades
  • Card access system for all doors
  • Visitor management system
  • Window film
  • Security Motion Detection System in all schools
  • Security/Panic system in all schools
  • Security gates
  • Telephones at North End and South End Schools
  • Site improvement and drainage issues at South End School
  • ADA Compliance at North End School
  • Generator at CGHS

The estimated cost for the plan is $2,964,816.  Now that the referendum has passed, Cedar Grove will receive $1,185, 926 in State Debt Service Aid, leaving Cedar Grove responsible for $1,778,890 which equates to an estimated net tax impact of $44 per year for the average assessed home in Cedar Grove.  To view the whole plan click here.
