Car rear-ends school bus injuring 4 students, cops say – NJ.com
Four children riding a school bus were hurt Thursday morning when the bus was rear-ended by another vehicle in Essex County, police said.
The crash occurred about 8:40 a.m. at Overlook Terrace and Broad Street in Bloomfield, according to Public Safety Director Samuel DeMaio.
There were nine students on the bus, one aide and the driver.
“It was a relatively minor accident, but four of the nine students were complaining of neck pain or just saying they didn’t feel right,” DeMaio said.
None of the others on the bus were hurt and the driver who hit the bus was not injured, police said.
Several ambulances responded to the scene and were in the process of evaluating the children, DeMaio said.
The ages of the students or the school where they were headed was not immediately available.
Police officers with Bloomfield Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit are investigating.
