Bloomfield Resident Promoted to Captain of Belleville Police Department – TAPinto.net

BELLEVILLE, NJ– Captain Christopher Schwindt, a Bloomfield Resident, is a seventeen-year veteran of the Belleville Police Department. He was appointed on November 3, 2003,  promoted to Sergeant in 2011 and Lieutenant in 2018 before recently being promoted to Captain. 

Schwindt previously served with the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office and Palisades Interstate Parkway Police for a total of twenty-three years of law enforcement service.

Schwindt has served faithfully throughout his career in the patrol division, the internal affairs bureau, and on the emergency response
team. He will now serve as Commander of Professional Standards Bureau ensuring the integrity, transparency and accountability of over
100 sworn officers.

He is married to his wife, Christina, for 17 years, and they have five children. Chris graduated from Kearny High School in Kearny, NJ and then attended Essex County College and Fairleigh Dickinson University.He has also coached girls basketball in the Bloomfield HSA since 2012 and continues to coach girls suburban travel basketball for the Bloomfield Rec Dept.

Captain Schwindt’s brother Sean is currently a Deputy Chief with the Bloomfield Police Department.
