Bloomfield Police Officer Aponte Receives Prestigious County Honor

LIVINGSTON, NJ– The Essex County Crime Prevention Officers Association held an awards ceremony this morning before the Essex County Police and Public Safety Expo held at the Livingston Mall.  The Association gave out awards to officers throughout the county who have performed above and beyond their expected duties in contributing to crime prevention.  Bloomfield Police Officer Yesenia Aponte was chosen for the Crime Prevention Officer of the Year award and was presented with the award during the opening ceremony of the Expo.

Bloomfield was well represented at the event as they had their mobile command unit, police trailer, three motorcycles, police mobility vehicle, and the crime scene van on location as well as other officers there to show their support for Officer Aponte. Bloomfield police officers were outside giving tours and explaining what each vehicle is used for. Officers were also inside the mall providing Child ID cards which help keep kids safe. Joining the Bloomfield officers were many other agencies handing out Community Policing freebies and providing helpful tips on how to keep themselves safe as well as their homes.

“I’m thankful and humble to have received such a prestigious award as Officer of the Year from Essex County Crime Prevention Officer Association,” said Aponte.  Officer Aponte can be seen around town as a member of the Bloomfield community policing team.
