Bergen man who owes $146K in child support picked up in Hudson sweep: sheriff – NJ.com

Hudson County sheriff’s officers took 37 people with outstanding warrants off the street, including one man who owed more than $146,000 in child support payments, authorities said.

The sweep was the first of 2020, with most of the people arrested taken into custody for failure to appear for court dates. Last year 115 people were taken into custody over the course of four sweeps by sheriff’s officers.

“Our office remains committed to doing everything possible to protect the residents of Hudson County,” Sheriff Frank Schillari said in a statement. “The sweeps performed during 2019 were very successful and we are looking to continue that sort of success this year. My officers will continue to work tirelessly to protect and serve our community.”

Robert Quinn, 58, of River Edge, owes $146,268 in support, while Monty Maryland, 45, of Newark, is in arrears for $55,454, the sheriff said.

Of the 37, nine were picked up related to drug charges, nine more related to theft charges, three related to burglary charges and two on weapons charges.
