Annual Duck Derby Raises Funds for Montclair Ambulance Unit – TAPinto.net

MONTCLAIR, NJ – Hundreds of rubber ducks were placed into the pond at Edgemont Park on Saturday, while eager residents all put in their bids vying for a chance for their duck to be named a winner.

The fourth annual duck derby was complete with live entertainment, activities for children, food vendors, a beer garden and health information.

The Duck Derby is an annual fundraiser designed to raise funds to benefit the Montclair Ambulance Unit (MAU). During this annual event, the Montclair Ambulance Unit partners with Montclair’s Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs to have spectators watch dozens of yellow rubber ducks be placed into the pond at Edgemont Park.

This year’s event had one special addition, a duck-inspired hot air balloon. Participants lined up for a chance to ride in the hot air balloon. After a brief demonstration and being lifted a few inches off the ground, lucky residents were returned to the earth.

Only the top three ducks were crowned first, second and third place winner.

All Duck Derby proceeds benefit MAU’s life-saving mission as an independent emergency medical service.
