He is survived by his mother, Heather Young, an art teacher at West Orange High School, his father Henry Sr., an instructional aide in the West Orange School District, and 5-year-old brother Derrick as well as grandparents and loving family members and friends.
The viewing will be held at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, located at 145 East Mt. Pleasant Avenue in Livingston, on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Gate of Heaven cemetery, located at 255 Ridgedale Avenue in East Hanover.
A mass will be held in the Chapel at Gate of Heaven cemetery; as an honorary firefighter, Henry Jr. will have honor guards from the Delran Fire Department standing tall by his side.
As Henry battled his illness, family and friends, along with students and staff of West Orange Schools, rallied to help the Chang family with fundraisers. The Delran Fire Company has established a GoFundMe page to help the family cover funeral costs and other medical expenses. Contributions can be made HERE.
The family is grateful for all the prayers and messages of support so many have provided throughout this long and difficult journey. Community members are encouraged to continue sending prayers for peace and healing.
