Coronavirus Care Packages For 300 Seniors In Essex County – Livingston, NJ Patch

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Jewish Family Service of MetroWest NJ is reaching out to their older neighbors in West Orange and South Orange with a wave of “care packages” amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The group, which has offices in Florham Park and Livingston, plans to deliver the packages to 300 at-risk senior citizens at Village Apartments in South Orange, The Federation Plaza in West Orange and B’nai B’rith in South Orange.

Volunteers will also deliver aid packages to homebound adults living in private homes nearby, the group said.

The packages include essential items such as paper products (tissues, paper towels, toilet paper), household cleaners, dish detergent, sanitizing wipes, hand soap, hand sanitizer, personal protective equipment (masks, gloves).

There will also be a touch of sweetness, too: cookies and cards made by volunteers.

The drive was given a boost by a donation from the Sobel Family Foundation, and got an assist from the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest, organizers said.

“These care packages will provide necessary and sometimes hard to find disinfectants, sanitizing wipes, gloves, masks and other supplies to older adults living in the community who are most at risk for contracting COVID-19,” said Stephanie Grove of Jewish Family Service of MetroWest NJ.

“We hope these care packages will remind the recipients that we are here to support them,” Grove added.
