Central Ward Councilwoman LaMonica McIver will host her third annual Back to School Store on Aug. 27 at Hayes-West Park, 179 Boyd Street (18th Ave side) from 3 to 6 p.m. Open to all Central Ward families, there will be free school supplies, backpacks, giveaways (tablets), and snacks. It’s free for all students, parents must accompany a child and provide a valid photo ID with a Central Ward address.
No registration required, event is first-come, first-serve, while supplies last. Social distancing enforced and mask required.
“In our current climate, there is so much uncertainty,” the councilwoman said. “Even with schools in New Jersey being done remotely, parents and kids will still need supplies. I am thrilled to be able to have this event to ensure that our kids have the supplies they need to begin the school year on the right foot and resources the City of Newark has to offer.”
