Seven New Covid-19 Cases and One Additional Death
A 63-year-old Egg Harbor Township woman with pre-existing health conditions has died from complications of Covid-19, becoming the 247th fatality in Atlantic County, according to public health officials.
They also confirmed seven new cases among three men, ages 21-59, and four women, ages 19-57.
Egg Harbor City, Egg Harbor Township and Galloway each had two of the new cases and Margate had one new case. These additions bring the countywide total to 4,063 confirmed cases with 2,738 recoveries.
Atlantic County will continue to provide Covid-19 testing by appointment at its drive-thru facility in Northfield at Rt. 9 and Dolphin Avenue, behind the county public works yard.
Testing is scheduled for each Tuesday through September 29, 9-11:30 AM. The only exception will be this week when testing will occur on Wednesday, September 9.
The test site is available for both symptomatic and asymptomatic county residents and no prescription is necessary. Residents must provide proof of county residency and appointment confirmation.
If available, appointments can be made online at www.aclink.org. Those who are unable to keep their appointments are asked to cancel no less than 24 hours in advance so others may have an opportunity to fill those spots.
A list of additional testing locations in Atlantic County is available at: https://www.atlantic-county.org/covid/additional-testing-locations.asp
Health officials urge residents to continue to remain vigilant to help mitigate the spread of Covid-19. This includes wearing face coverings, maintaining social distancing and avoiding crowds, washing hands frequently and sanitizing common-touch areas, and answering the call if contacted by contact tracers.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce two additional deaths in our community caused by COVID-19. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “Recent reports suggest that the long-term implications of contracting coronavirus are more dire for young people than previously thought. Months-long illness and permanent damage to internal organs are possible, and we can’t know what effects will manifest in 10 or 20 years. This is why everyone, regardless of age, needs to take this seriously, do their part to stop the spread, and protect themselves.”
The Department of Health is announcing 95 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.
In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,397 confirmed resident cases and 579 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 10,013 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 318 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 568 total fatalities countywide.
