Millburn Educator Gives Teachers Perspective On Remote Learning – Millburn, NJ Patch

MILLBURN, NJ – What do teachers really think about remote learning?

This week, a Millburn teacher, who formerly taught at the Tuscan School in Maplewood, gave his perspective on what this time has been like for teachers.

Douglas Weisberger wrote an essay published on Patch entitled “What You Need To Know About Your Children’s Teachers.”

In part, he wrote:

The majority of your children’s teachers have children of their own. They are parents whose concerns, worries, and responsibilities are exactly like yours. In other words they get where you’re coming from, and they care.

Being parents, they’re balancing homeschooling their own children while simultaneously distance teaching yours. They juggle, they contort and at the end of the day, they’ve managed to take care of their own children, and to provide your children with an opportunity to learn and to connect with their school friends.

You children’s teachers look forward to seeing your children. It makes life seem more normal for them. It comforts them to see your children’s faces. It lets them know that the kids are all right, and that we’ve all survived another day….
