East Orange Residents Abused Child, Left Her With Fractures: ECPO – West Orange, NJ Patch

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A pair of East Orange residents have been accused of abusing a 3-year-old girl, leaving her with fractures to her knees, arm and hand, authorities announced Thursday.
Tevin Molentiel, 28, and Tamika Dorsey, 36, both of East Orange, have been charged with multiple child abuse offenses following an investigation by the Special Victims Unit of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
The victim, a 3-year-old girl who had been in the care of Molentiel and Dorsey at their East Orange home, was hospitalized with severe injuries, including fractures to her knees, arm and hand, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the East Orange Public Safety Department.
According to authorities, the abuse was determined to have been inflicted during the period in which the defendants were caring for the victim.
Molentiel and Dorsey were charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child and conspiracy.
An investigation is ongoing. The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office received assistance with the investigation from the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, the Hillside Police Department and the East Orange Police Department.
