Pair charged with abusing 3-year-old girl, sending her to hospital – nj.com

Two East Orange residents were facing multiple child abuse offenses Thursday for allegedly severely injuring a 3-year-old girl they cared for, police said.

Tevin Molentiel, 28, and Tamika Dorsey, 36, were charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child and conspiracy, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and East Orange Police announced in a joint release.

The girl suffered injuries which included fractures to her knees, arm and hand, the office said.

Molentiel and Dorsey were caring for the girl at their home when the alleged abuse occurred, but authorities did not say how they were related to her.

“Even as Essex County combats the COVID-19 pandemic, law enforcement continues to actively and thoroughly investigate all allegations of child abuse and neglect occurring within our borders,” Assistant Prosecutor Jeffrey Conrad, who is handling the case, said in a statement.
