Orange Election Results are in, Warren is Mayor and Council Race is Close. – TAPinto.net

(ORANGE, NJ) – Preliminary elections results are in from the Orange municipal election. As of 9:42 PM on May 12, the Essex County Clerk has determined that incumbent Mayor Dwayne Warren has won. Although the election will not be officially certified until Thursday, May 14, at 8 PM as mail-in ballots are still working their way through the postal system, the results are clear.

As for At-Large Council, it looks like the top three were: Wooten, Scott, and there is a one-vote difference between Montague III and Marable, Jr, with Montague III in the lead. By Friday, the race between Montague and Marble could be anyones.

Most towns around the state who had a mail-in election showed a better voter turnout than in person elections of the past. But the key word is “most.” As for Orange, the voter turnout was at a record low. Although people had the polls come to them, sitting on their kitchen counter, most of the approximately 17,000 registered voters in Orange chose to not participate and did not mail the ballots back. Check out the re-cap of the good, the bad, and the ugly this election.
