4/30 7:56pm: Middlesex County reported 11,898 COVID-19 cases total as of Thursday.

Essex County will reopen parks and golf courses on Saturday.

Cumberland County surpassed 700 COVID-19 cases total as of Thursday.

Ocean County will gradually reopen its parks on Saturday.

Salem County reported 230 COVID-19 cases total as of Thursday

Somerset County reported 3,099 COVID-19 cases total as of Thursday.

Gloucester County reported a total of 1,239 COVID-19 cases as of Thursday.

Passaic County reported a total of 13,259 COVID-19 cases as of Thursday.

Sussex County reported a total of 935 COVID-19 cases as of Thursday.


4/30 6:23pm: In a public appearance with Trump and later at his daily briefing back in Trenton, Murphy had only praise for the president. He said the feds have pledged to deliver 550,000 test kits and 750,000 swabs. In thanking the president, the governor offered a hometown touch, noting that Trump is familiar with New Jersey, as are aides Jared Kushner, Kellyanne Conway, and Larry Kudlow, all Garden State natives.

NJ Transit announced access to COVID-19 testing for employees.

4/30 3:17pm: Watch Governor Murphy’s daily COVID-19 briefing at 330pm.  The Governor announced that the White House has guaranteed 500k test kits and 750k swabs to the state.


4/30 2:47pm: Atlantic County reported 57 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday.

In Jersey City, COVID-19 testing is now open to all city residents.

Mercer County will reopen county parks and golf courses on Saturday.

Warren County will reopen county parks on Saturday.


4/30 1:50pm: Assemblyman Bergen will introduce legislation to restrict the Governor’s ability to enact emergency executive orders.

The Murphy Administration today announced that the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management, with the assistance of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and The Defense Logistics Agency, has secured the Battelle Critical Care Decontamination System (CCDS) to assist healthcare providers, first responders, and other agencies in decontaminating and preserving critically needed N95 respirators at no charge to the sending agencies.


4/30 1:15pm: Governor Murphy headed to the White House for a public meeting with President Trump. Murphy praised the federal government’s ‘spectacular job‘, while the President complimented Murphy for reopening parks, but didn’t commit to more federal funding for the state. Ahead of the meeting, NJGOP Chairman Steinhardt urged the Governor to make the meeting ‘substantive, not symbolic‘ and to ‘come home with a plan’ to save the state’s economy.

Morris County approved an aggressive contact tracing program.


4/30 10:40am: Hunterdon County reported 593 COVID-19 cases total as of Wednesday.


4/30 10:15am: First Lady Tammy Murphy  announced her plans to join New Jersey’s COVID-19 volunteer effort.

Senator Gopal expressed ‘serious concerns‘ over the conditions at state-run Veterans Nursing Homes.

More than 930,000 new unemployment claims have been filed since COVID-19 hit New Jersey in mid-March, and the Labor Department announced that it would begin processing claims from self-employed workers, independent contractors and others not eligible for regular unemployment.

4/29 6:37pm: Sussex Freeholder Fasano called for the activation of the National Guard for Andover.

Six North Hudson mayors say that municipal parks will remain closed until further notice.

Union County will reopen county parks on Saturday on a limited basis.

Monmouth County will reopen county parks on Saturday.


4/29: 4:42pm: State and county parks will be permitted to reopen at sunrise Saturday, but you better be careful – Phil Murphy will be watching.

4/29 3:12pm: Atlantic County reported 25 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday.

Governor Phil Murphy today signed Executive Order No. 132, allowing county and municipal clerks to accept initiative and referendum petitions electronically, and allowing signatures for these petitions to be collected electronically.

Congressman Andy Kim named to the bipartisan House Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis.

The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development announced that recipients of federal Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) to the self-employed, independent contractors and others who are not usually eligible for unemployment insurance benefits will start being notified of their PUA eligibility today


4/29 1:40pm: The Senate Republican leadership team said Governor Phil Murphy’s announcement that State and county parks and golf courses will be allowed to reopen is a reasonable step and that many businesses are also ready to resume operations once restrictions are lifted


4/29 1:17pm: Governor Murphy is allowing parks to reopen on Saturday.

4/28 5:45pm: Senate President Steve Sweeney and Senators Paul Sarlo, M. Teresa Ruiz, Steve Oroho, Declan O’Scanlon and Troy Singleton issued the following joint statement today offering Governor Murphy’s Economic Commission a plan to continue the public safety measures needed to counter the COVID-19 crisis and to offer some strategic steps to guide the reopening of New Jersey’s economy.

North Hudson mayors announced a collaboration towards the eventual reopening of town parks.

4/28 1:46pm: Governor Murphy today signed Executive Order No. 130, which allows municipalities to extend the grace period for property tax payments due on May 1st to June 1st.

Governor Phil Murphy today signed an executive order creating a commission charged with advising the administration on the timing and preparation for New Jersey’s recovery from the COVID-19 shutdown.

4/28 11:57am: Hit very hard by the COVID-19 virus, politically divided Teaneck fought back, helped equip its besieged local hospital with personal protective equipment (PPEs), and collectively solemnly worshipped, while also stubbornly – maybe even defiantly – holding onto those political divisions that could only be somewhat semi-resolved at the ballot box.

Seventy percent of business owners say they are able to operate safely under CDC social distancing guidelines according to a new NJBIA Business Recovery Survey inquiring how a soft opening might affect their business model.

Governor Phil Murphy and Superintendent of the State Police Colonel Patrick Callahan today announced an Administrative Order clarifying which businesses are permitted to operate and ways in which certain businesses may operate in accordance with Executive Order 107.

Governor Murphy signed an executive order extending Retired Officer Carry Permits until 90 days after the end of the public state of emergency.

4/27 3:36pm: Don’t expect things to change anytime soon. That was the unsaid bottom line today after the governor unveiled “the road back.”

Senator Kip Bateman reiterated his call to open New Jersey parks and golf courses.

Morris County surpassed 5,000 COVID-19 cases total as of Monday.

Atlantic County reported 108 new COVID-19 cases on Monday.


4/27 2:59pm: Governor Murphy outlined six key principles and benchmarks to guide the process for restoring New Jersey’s economic health by ensuring public health.

Today, elected officials and a wide range of progressive groups held a virtual press conference asking the Murphy Administration to pause consideration of spending $16 billion to widen the NJ Turnpike and Garden State Parkway.

Senator Michael Testa (R-1) said it is imperative that the Murphy Administration demonstrate that New Jersey is taking responsible budgetary measures to account for plunging revenues as it looks to Washington for additional financial relief.

4/27 1:19pm: The NJ Outdoor Alliance released a statement saying ‘there is no remaining reason not to reopen parks immediately’.

Senator O’Scanlon decried NJ Turnpike Authority toll hikes without public hearings as ‘an outrageous slap in the face to the spirit of public hearing laws’.


4/27 12:51pm: Essex County surpassed 13,000 COVID-19 cases total as of Monday.

Senator Cardinale expressed support for allowing self-serve gas during the COVID-19 crisis.
Senator Pennacchio will introduce legislation would allow landlords to waive all or part of three months rent to businesses, up to $15,000. In return, the landlord would be eligible for a state tax credit for one-third of the forgiven rent. The program would be voluntary.

4/27 10:01am: Middlesex County’s Department of Public Safety & Health and Office of Health Services, in collaboration with the City of New Brunswick and the City of New Brunswick Public School System, will open a by-appointment-only walk-up COVID-19 testing site.

Monmouth University: Compared to the rest of the country, New Jerseyans are more likely to report that the COVID-19 outbreak has had a major impact on their lives, including direct exposure to the virus, concerns about serious illness, household job layoffs, and elevation of stress levels.

The Supreme Court issued an order on Friday resuming certain court operations while extending the deadlines of other functions.

Senator Testa reacted to reports that recently released inmates are under a gag order from speaking to the press, calling it ‘unjustifiable‘ and blasting the NJDOC for ‘failing both their corrections officers and inmates‘; Testa said the gag order ‘blocks the true story of what is happening behind bars during the COVID-19 pandemic’.

4/21 10:14pm: Paterson Mayor Sayegh has beaten COVID-19, according to Paterson Times; the mayor says the only symptom he had was a loss of smell.  From the report: ‘Sayegh said an initial x-ray showed he had pneumonia on his left lung. He was prescribed hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin. A later examination showed the same area had cleared. He also took vitamin D, multi-vitamins, and Emergen-C 1,000mg Vitamin C to strengthen his immune system to fight the virus.’

In Middle Township, Mayor Donohue says that Cape May County ‘doesn’t have the option‘ to remain closed through the summer, noting that the economic impact would be felt for years, according to the Press of AC.

A Monmouth poll arriving today puts Phil Murphy’s approval rating at a robust 71 percent.
