GAS LAMP PLAYERS INVITES ALL DANCING QUEENS (AND KINGS)
TO “MAMMA MIA!” FEBRUARY 7-9
Glen Ridge, New Jersey (January 22, 2020) – Gas Lamp Players is thrilled to bring ABBA’s glittering musical to Essex County as its annual Main Stage production.
Mamma Mia! has proven its popularity world-wide as both a musical, and then a film. Propelled by the story-telling magic of ABBA’s songs, audiences can’t help but fall in love with this fun, feel-good musical. The Gas Lamp Players production features a multigenerational cast of 80 adults, teens and children from Montclair and surrounding areas.
Four Shows will be staged at Ridgewood Avenue School Theater in Glen Ridge. Performances are Friday, February 7 at 8:00 p.m., Saturday February 8 at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, February 9 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $15/students/seniors and $20/adults and available at the door or online at https://gas-lamp-players.ticketleap.com/mamma-mia
The winner takes it all. A young girl’s search for her birth father takes a hilarious turn as it brings three men from her mother’s past back to the Greek Island they last visited 20 years ago. This charming trip-down-the-aisle tale is chock full of explosive dance numbers, ABBA’s best hits and non-stop laughs.
With music and lyrics by Benny Anderson and Björn Ulvaeus, and book by Catherine Johnson, Mamma Mia! opened in 1999 in the West End and then transferred to Broadway in 2001, where it ran for 14 years and 5,758 performances. It is one of the top ten longest-running musicals both on Broadway and in the West End and it remains one of the top-five highest grossing musical theater franchises of all time. Its various productions around the world have spanned over 50 countries and have been seen by over 60 million people.
