BAYONNE, NJ – Lynn Keating, a registered nurse at Mary J. Donohoe Community School, was honored by the Bayonne Board of Education on Nov. 26 for her helping save the life of a 5th Grade student.

The incident unfolded when another student, Joseph Farley, 11, walked into a boys’ room at the school and found his classmate choking on a piece of candy. Farley rushed the student to nurse Keating, who successfully dislodged the candy, saying the boy’s life.

The resolution, passed unanimously by the board, said Keating had brought honor and distinction to the school and the entire community for her professional aide to the 5th grade student.
