Essex County Girl Goes Missing At School, Found Safe: Police – Newark, NJ Patch

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — UPDATE: Newark police said Corren Lewis has been found uninjured at a neighbor’s home. Our original article follows below.

Police are asking for the public’s help finding a missing 8-year-old girl in Essex County.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, a family member dropped Corren Lewis off at Belmont Runyon School on Belmont Runyon Way in Newark around 8:15 a.m. on Monday, despite class not being in session that day.

Nobody was able to find Lewis afterwards, authorities said.

“While police are actively searching for Corren, we seek the public’s help in quickly locating her so she can be returned to her family,” the NDPS stated.

Police described Lewis as 4 feet 2 inches and 78 pounds, with a light-brown skin complex, brown hair and brown eyes. She had her hair in a ponytail with braids in the back, and was last seen wearing a shiny, black coat, navy-blue pants, black boots and a purple bookbag with a unicorn on it.
