According to organizers:

“Children are encouraged to wear their costumes to the zoo for Howl-O-Ween. Candy stations will be set up throughout the zoo where trick or treaters can collect candy. In addition, there will be a not-so-scary train ride. Turtle Back Zoo will be closed on October 31 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. to prepare for the event. Admission to Howl-O-Ween is $3 for Zoological Society of New Jersey members and $5 for non-members.”

Children under 2 are free and do not require a ticket. Participants should bring their own, reusable bags for candy; bags will not be available.

“The festive atmosphere will be enjoyable for both kids and their parents, and the adults will have peace of mind knowing their children are celebrating Halloween in a safe and controlled atmosphere,” Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. said.
