Report of Possible Suspicious Male Outside Columbia High School – TAPinto.net
MAPLEWOOD, NJ – The South Orange Maplewood School District issued the followig email to all famileis of Columbia High School Students about 12:40 pm today:
“Dear Columbia High School Family,
The purpose of this letter is to notify you that we have been informed of a possible suspicious male outside of Columbia High School.The Maplewood Police Department has advised us that there is no confirmed threat at this time. While these reports have not been substantiated, we take any potential threat to the health and safety of our students and staff very seriously. The Maplewood Police Department has also informed us that there will be an increased police presence in the area around Columbia High School until further notice, as a precaution.
To assist in keeping everyone safe, we ask that you remind your student to be vigilant in following school rules with regards to opening outside doors. We also ask that students report any odd instances of interactions with strangers to the school administration immediately. We thank you for your attention to this important matter and we will continue to do all we can to maintain a safe and secure school environment for your child.”
It is very poistive to know that the Maplewood Police Department will keep an increased presence in the vicinity of CHS, as a precaution, for the foreseeable future. Should any additional information become available, we will issue and uopate to this article.
