Newark University Hospital to Offer Free Lead Testing – TAPinto.net
NEWARK, NJ – University Hospital announced this week it would offer free lead testing for children and adults living in areas served by the Pequannock water treatment plant.
Free lead testing will be conducted Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The hospital will also provide free testing on Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Ambulatory Care Center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointments are necessary.
Residents are required to bring proof they live within the Pequannock service area, similarly to how they have to show an address to pick up free bottled water.
The hospital’s announcement comes as the city continues to struggle with a lead water problem that impacts about 14,000 households after lead leached into pipes that service people’s homes.
