N.J. man caught sexually assaulting drugged toddler gets 25 years in prison – NJ.com
A New Jersey man caught sexually assaulting an unconscious child was sentenced to 25 years in state prison, the Monmouth County Prosecutor said Friday.
Jaime Mauricio Leon, 34, of Bloomfield, pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault and possession of child pornography in April. Leon is required to serve the full sentence without the possibility of parole, per the Jessica Lunsford Act.
Leon was arrested after a passerby who walked by a Long Branch residence June 16, 2017 saw through a window that a man and woman were committing sexual acts on a minor. The witness reported the incident to the Long Branch Police Department that day.
The child appeared to be asleep, but the investigation revealed the couple provided her with sleeping medication to facilitate the assault, according to the prosecutor’s office. The child was known to the woman, police say.
Leon was arrested at work in Fort Lee, New Jersey on June 23, 2017. During his plea, Leon admitted he and his co-defendant planned the attack on the child through text messages.
Once released from prison, Leon will be required to register under Megan’s Law and he will be placed under supervision for life, prosecutors say.
The charges against the woman are still pending.
