There was a muggy start to Tuesday morning as a heat advisory loomed, with at least one town set to approach record high temperatures.

Hawthorne and Bergenfield were in the 70s as early as 5 a.m., according to Bob Ziff of the New Jersey Weather Observers. Westwood and Ramsey were in the high 60s. There are also concerns with Tuesday’s air quality with high concentrations of air pollution looming in the area.

A heat advisory beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday was issued for Bergen, Essex and Passaic counties and will last until 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The predicted high for Bergenfield today is 94 degrees, only three degrees cooler than the record high of 97 for the day, Ziff said.
