Owner of Bloomfield’s Kokusai Karate Dojo Charged with Sexual Assault, Child Endangerment – TAPinto.net
NEWARK, NJ – The 56 year old owner of Kokusai Karate Dojo was arrested and charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child according to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Bloomfield Public Safety Director Samuel A. DeMaio.
It is reported that earlier this year, Edilberto “Eddie” Torres, 56, of East Orange, began repeatedly making inappropriate physical contact with the minor who was a student at the martial srts studio. The child ultimately reported this to Bloomfield Police.
According to Assistant Prosecutor Jesse Stalnaker, who is handling the case, Torres made inappropriate contact with the victim’s intimate parts. Torres is scheduled to make his first court appearance later today.
“I would like to commend the hard work of our Special Operations Detectivtives in bringing this horrible crime to a quick close” DeMaio stated. Those who prey on the innocence of our children have no place in our community. This individual violated the trust of this child’s family while taking a teaching opportunity to satisfy his own deviant behaviour.” he added.
