Essex County-Based CPA Group Hosting Free Tax Q&A Sessions – Caldwells, NJ Patch

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Have questions about paying your taxes this year? You’re not alone… and there is help.
On Monday, the Roseland-based New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) announced that its members will be answering free “tax Q&A sessions” for the public. The sessions are an effort to help New Jersey taxpayers navigate the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, the corresponding state and local tax (SALT) deduction cap and other “pressing questions” amid tax season.
The sessions are being held via a partnership with NJTV, News 12 New Jersey and the Asbury Park Press, the NJCPA stated.
According to a news release from the group:
“On Wednesday, Feb. 27, at noon, NJCPA members Kenneth Bagner, CPA, of SobelCo in Livingston and Karen Artasanchez, CPA, of WilkinGuttenplan in East Brunwick, will answer tax questions on NJTV’s live broadcast on its Facebook and YouTube pages. Questions can be submitted during the broadcast or in advance at njcpa.org/taxquestions.”
The group will also give the public another chance to ask tax questions on Sunday, March 3:
“NJCPA members will be manning the phones during the society’s annual tax call-in program with the Asbury Park Press on Sunday, March 3. Last year’s program helped to answer more than 150 tax-related calls on anything from withholding questions and non-resident forms to family-owned businesses. Those interested in asking a question can call toll-free at 800-883-7737 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.”
Another event will be held on Wednesday, March 6 the group said:
“NJCPA members will also be on hand Wednesday, March 6, to field tax questions at News 12 New Jersey during their live news broadcast from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. News 12 will announce the call-in number at the start of the program.”
“These free programs are incredibly useful to the public,” said Ralph Albert Thomas, executive director at NJCPA. “We encourage everyone to take advantage of them. No tax question is too small.”
