United Way Opens Somerville Office – TAPinto.net

SOMERVILLE, NJ – United Way of Northern New Jersey has relocated its Somerset County office to 55 North Gaston Ave.

“While our zip code has changed, our mission hasn’t,” United Way of Northern New Jersey CEO John Franklin said. “We remain dedicated to serving Somerset County as well as the rest of our five-county region.”

United Way works to remove the barriers that keep ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) and those in poverty from reaching their potential. By tackling the underlying causes of financial instability — the lack of a quality education, insufficient income and poor health — United Way seeks to create long-lasting, positive change. United Way research shows that 31 percent of Somerset County households are ALICE or in poverty.

Residents will continue to find a range of United Way services at this location including free tax preparation; a one-stop shop for information and access to community resources for unpaid family caregivers; and efforts to ensure all children have access to high-quality early education.

“We remain committed to improving life for our neighbors, family and friends who are ALICE, working hard but struggling to make ends meet,” Franklin said. “Thanks to our donors, dedicated volunteers and staff, we are making a difference and changing the course for thousands of families.”
