Teen who fled juvy facility with 3 others admits to escape, and the shooting that put him there – NJ.com
One of the four teenagers who fled an Atlantic County detention center in 2017 has now admitted to the escape and a shooting that landed him in the facility in the first place.
Raymir Lampkin, 17, pleaded guilty to escape, two counts of burglary and first-degree attempted murder on Wednesday, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said.
Lampkin, Michael Huggins, Stephine Woodley and another juvenile overpowered a corrections officer and fled the Harborfields Youth Detention Facility in Egg Harbor City on the morning of Nov. 15, 2017.
They stole a Harborfields’ staffer’s car and later crashed it in a police pursuit before fleeing on foot. While running, they burglarized an unoccupied home in Egg Harbor City, taking a rifle and clothes, before taking items from a second home where a woman and two children were home.
All but Huggins were caught in Bridgeton later that morning after stealing a car and crashing it near the Harborfields facility. Huggins was arrested in Atlantic City the next day near the Carolina Village Apartments.

Lampkin admitted to his role in the escape and also a Sept. 19, 2016 shooting in Atlantic City.
He admitted firing shots at a vehicle with two people inside going south on New Jersey Avenue. The driver was unhurt, but the juvenile passenger was struck after multiple shots that completely shattered the rear and passenger windows.
The victim later had surgery to remove the bullet from his back and Lampkin was later charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and gun charges.
Under the plea deal, Lampkin will serve a total of 16 years, 11 of which are subject to parole ineligibility.
Lampkin is currently in the Essex County juvenile detention facility.
