  1. Anchor Health Properties and Knoxville-based Tennessee Valley Eye Surgery Center opened an 18,000-square-foot ASC in Knoxville.
  2. Braselton (Ga.) Surgical Specialist Center filed a letter of intent to establish an ASC in Braselton.
  3. Billings (Mont.) Clinic will build a $40 million “destination ambulatory center,” in Bozeman, Mont.
  4. Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Health System plans to open an ASC at Green Spring Station in Lutherville, Md.
  5. The North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulations gave conditional approval to Greensboro, N.C.-based Triad Center for Surgery’s proposed ASC.
  6. The Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency approved Kingsport, Tenn.-based Holston Medical Group’s certificate of need to build a $3.7 million multispecialty ASC.
  7. Tampa Bay (Fla.) Surgery Center opened a medical office building with a surgery center in Tampa Bay.
  8. A hospital with an ASC is being developed on the Phoenix-based HonorHealth Sonoran Medical Center campus.
  9. Bel Air-based University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health is building an outpatient pavilion with a surgery center in Bel Air.
  10. Atlanta-based Grady Health System filed a letter of intent to develop an ASC.

  13. Glendale, N.Y.-based EMU Health held a grand opening for its new facility featuring an ASC, multispecialty center and women’s health services Oct. 25.
  14. Advanced Vision Surgery Center in Longmont, Colo., officially opened. Advanced Vision Surgery Center is a partnership by several eye physicians, including Joel S. Myers, MD.
  15. Quincy (Ill.) Medical Group filed an application with the state to build the Quincy Medical Group Surgery Center.
  16. Fort Worth-based Texas Health Orthopedic Surgery Center held a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new facility Oct. 16.
  17. Amherst, N.Y.-based UB Neurosurgery will construct an ASC estimated to cost $7.8 million, located behind its new medical facility currently under construction.
  18. After applying for a certificate of need to acquire and renovate an ASC in South Charleston, W.Va., for $277,740, Charleston (W.Va.) Area Medical Center has plans for two more ASCs.
  19. Baton Rouge (La.) General opened the Mid City Specialty Center in Baton Rouge.

  33. Los Angeles-based Good Samaritan Hospital opened the Frank R. Seaver Ambulatory Surgery Center Sept. 4 as part of the nearly 200,000-square-foot Good Samaritan medical pavilion.
  34. Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center in St. Charles, Ill. is holding a groundbreaking ceremony for a new facility.
  35. Las Vegas-based Mountain’s Edge Hospital is expanding to add an orthopedic surgery center.
  36. The Bossier City (La.) Council passed an ordinance that would allow the sale of a 13.7-acre piece of land to Dapper Holdings, who is looking to build a $35 million medical development with an ASC on the property.
  37. NYU Langone Health launched the phased opening of the New York City-based Joan H. and Preston Robert Tisch Center at Essex Crossing, a 55,000-square-foot facility that will include three floors.
  38. After three gastroenterologists expressed interest in joining Buffalo (N.Y.) Surgery Center, the center filed an application with the New York Department of Health to add a GI procedure room. If approved, the center would pay $247,316 to renovate one of its exciting procedure rooms into a GI procedure room.
  39. Knoxville, Tenn.-based Tennova Healthcare cut certain services at its Morristown, Tenn.-based Lakeway Regional Hospital while building an ASC on a North Knoxville-based medical campus. The center will include six operating suites and is expected to open in early 2019.
  40. Marshalltown, Iowa-based Wolfe Eye Clinic broke ground on a 25,000-square-foot medical facility June 25. The facility will be the largest ophthalmology-dedicated ASC in Iowa. It will be built directly east of Wolf Eye Clinic’s West Des Moines, Iowa-based clinic.
  41. Stanford (Calif.) Medicine will open its Stanford Medicine Outpatient Center in Redwood City, Calif., July 9. The center is three stories and 90,000 square feet. The health system built the center to complement services offered at its other outpatient center in Redwood City.
  42. Browns Mills Medical Office Building in Pemberton Township, N.J., opened earlier this week and includes space for an ASC on its third floor.
  43. Flemington, N.J.-based Hunterdon Healthcare held a ribbon cutting ceremony June 14 for its new medical office space in Bridgewater, N.J. The 55,000-square-foot, three-story building now features medical offices for specialties such as breast surgery, occupational/physical therapy and urology on the second floor. An ASC occupies 7,500 square feet on the third floor.
  44. Pittsburgh-based UPMC opened its $19 million outpatient center near Ebensburg, Pa.
  45. Wake Forest Baptist Health-Lexington (N.C.) Medical Center broke ground on its 26,500-square-foot surgical facility June 13. This is the biggest developmental project Lexington Medical Center has ever undertaken.
  46. Minneapolis-based Twin Cities Orthopedics opened a 48,000-square-foot facility in Blaine (Minn.) June 11. The clinic houses the Blaine Orthopedic Surgery Center.
  47. Canton-Potsdam (N.Y.) Hospital is constructing an outpatient surgical facility in Potsdam. The facility will be two stories and will house a procedural center and physician offices.
  48. Frisco, Texas-based NextGen oral Maxillofacial & Reconstructive Surgery Center opened to provide cosmetic and reconstructive surgery options to the area.
  49. The New York Department of Health approved Buffalo, N.Y.-based WNY Medical Management’s proposal to build a multispecialty ASC in Amherst, N.Y.
  50. Muncie-based Central Indiana Orthopedics is constructing a 37-acre medical campus with a surgery center and medical office space.
  51. Charlotte, N.C.-based Carolinas Center for Ambulatory Dentistry broke ground on an 11,000-square-foot dental surgery center, also in Charlotte.
  52. New Lenox, Ill.-based Silver Cross Hospital opened a freestanding ASC in New Lenox through a joint venture with independent physicians and United Surgical Partners International.
  53. After its spring opening, the Denver Surgery Center recently received accreditation from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, allowing it to start accepting patients.
  54. Conway (S.C.) Ophthalmology Associates’ Charles Proctor, MD, is constructing a new surgery center and office building across the street from his practice. It will offer only ophthalmology services.
  55. Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health is spending $800 million through its new Vision Northland project, which will transform its downtown presence. Essentia is planning to build an entirely new hospital, a clinical building and an outpatient surgery center.
  56. Los Angeles-based Keck Medicine of USC is opening a 33,000-square-foot ambulatory clinic in Arcadia, Calif. The clinic is expected to open in late 2018 and will provide both primary care and specialty services.
  57. Stuart, Fla.-based Martin Health System, Compass Surgical Partners and a group of physician investors will open the Stuart Surgery Center in early 2018.
  58. Cincinnati-based Mercy Health began construction on the three-story Eastgate Medical Center, which will feature an ASC, in the eastern part of the city.
  59. Missoula (Mont.) Bone & Joint gained approval to open a larger ASC.
  60. Bakersfield, Calif.-based Rio Bravo Medical Center is developing four medical buildings to add to its campus. The campus currently has a 65,000-square-foot cancer and imaging center with an attached surgery center. By the end of 2019, the cancer and surgery center will double in size.
  61. Froedtert Hospital & the Medical College of Wisconsin opened a health center in Oak Creek, Wis. At 109,000 square feet, the Drexel Town Square Health Center contains an outpatient surgery center, cancer center, pharmacy and lab services.
  62. Portland-based Maine Medical Center won board approval to launch an expansion project in early May. The five-year expansion plan includes a new surgery center and an employee parking garage.
  63. Nashville, Tenn.-based Saint Thomas Health purchased three acres of land in Murfreesboro, Tenn., to construct a 13,000-square-foot surgery center with two operating rooms and one procedure room.
  64. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services issued Fayetteville, N.C.-based Valleygate Dental Surgery Center a certificate of need March 1, clearing the group to open its new center in Greensboro, N.C., June 1.
  65. The Douglas Co. began construction on a 92,174-square-foot Department of Veterans Affairs facility in Rochester, N.Y. The facility will feature an ASC, as well as an eye clinic, a dental clinic, a pharmacy, exam rooms and radiology rooms.
  66. Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center proposed the purchase of up to 14 acres of property for a new ASC and pediatric clinic. The Murfreesboro City Council voted to approve the property sale.
  67. Fayetteville, N.C.-based Valleygate Dental Surgery Center opened and completed its first patient appointment in March.
  68. Opelika-based East Alabama Medical Center plans to open a freestanding emergency department with an ASC in Auburn, Ala. The ASC will have four operating and procedure rooms.
  69. Hurst, Texas-based Cook Children’s Northeast Hospital will close as a hospital April 20 and become an ASC soon thereafter.
  70. Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Neb., is constructing a 130,000-square-foot medical office building, which will house an outpatient surgery center.
  71. Crystal Clinic Orthopedic Centers plans to invest in a new facility that will offer surgical and non-surgical care. The new center will have 12 operating rooms as well as an urgent care orthopedic clinic, support services and imaging capabilities.
  72. The Butte, Mont., zoning board unanimously approved a special use permit for the construction of a 14,226-square-foot ASC.
  73. Tupelo, Miss.-based Specialty Orthopedic Group is building a facility scheduled to open in February 2019; 12,000 square feet of the new facility will be dedicated to a surgery center with four operating rooms.
  74. Conemaugh Health System held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the 130,000-square-foot East Hills Outpatient Center Feb. 7. Both are based in Johnstown, Pa.
  75. Renton, Wash.-based Providence Health & Services will begin construction on a new ASC at its St. Vincent Medical Center campus in April. This will be Providence’s fifth outpatient surgery center in the Portland, Ore., area.
  76. Roslyn, N.Y.-based St. Francis Hospital of Catholic Health Services of Long Island partnered with Westchester, Ill.-based Regent Surgical Health to open the East Hills (N.Y.) Surgery Center.
  77. A group of independent physicians are opening a new two-story surgery center in Center Township, Pa. A group of independent physicians will operate the center. This is the group’s second surgery center.
  78. Nobilis Health broadened its market reach through a new ASC in Dallas. It is a multispecialty facility with two operating rooms and will offer services similar to Nobilis’ nine direct-to-consumer marketing brands.
  79. Jefferson Health, Rothman Institute, NueHealth and several Philadelphia physicians formed a joint venture to open the $17 million, 22,000-square-foot Jefferson Surgery Center in Cherry Hill (N.J.).
  80. Vestavia Hills, Ala.-based SmoothRock Surgery Center opened in a recently developed commercial business park.
  81. Pueblo, Colo.-based Parkview Medical Center opened a new outpatient center that will be able to accommodate as many as 60 procedures per day.
  82. Moreno Valley, Calif.-based Riverside University Health System plans to build a neighboring 200,000-square-foot ambulatory care campus with an outpatient surgery center this spring.
  83. Phoenix-based Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center opened a clinic that provides cataract evaluations, glaucoma care and treatment in Mesa, Ariz.
  84. Lincoln, Neb.-based Bryan Medical Center plans to open its new medical building with a 17,000-square-foot outpatient surgery center, along with clinical and office space, in March.

  89. Wichita (Kan.) Nephrology Group began construction on a clinic and surgery center scheduled to open in the eastern part of the city this summer.
  90. Charleston-based Medical University of South Carolina is opening an outpatient surgical facility in a shopping mall.
  91. Marquette, Mich.-based Advanced Center for Orthopedics and Plastic Surgery plans on opening another Marquette location in March.

  94. Goshen (Ind.) Health opened a new outpatient surgery center focused on GI, orthopedics, sports medicine, pain management and general surgery.
  95. Advanced Surgical Center of Boerne (Texas) opened a new ASC and completed its first total joint replacement there on April 7. The two-OR facility was developed as a partnership between physicians and SurgCenter Development.
  96. Twin Cities Orthopedics opened a location in Eagan, Minn., with an ASC that has seven surgical suites. The 26,000-square-foot facility is adjacent to the practice’s Viking Lakes headquarters.
  97. Deerfield, Ill.-based Surgical Care Affiliates partnered with Annapolis, Md.-based Anne Arundel Medical Center to open two outpatient surgery centers in early 2019. The ASCs will focus on orthopedic and gynecological services, with at least one including total joint replacements and spine.
  98. Supply, N.C.-based Novant Health Brunswick Endoscopy Center is set to open May 2 as the first freestanding endoscopy center in Brunswick County.
  99. Pain Specialists of Southern Oregon plan to open a new ASC, Crater Lake Surgery Center, in Medford, Ore., later this summer.
  100. Clinton, S.C.-based Palmetto Bone & Joint opened a new $9 million facility in Chapin, S.C., which includes an outpatient surgery center.

  106. Boulder (Colo.) Community Health is building a 30,000-square-foot medical office building next to its Community Medical Center in Lafayette, Colo. The health system could break ground on the office space by the end of this year, contingent on approval from the city of Lafayette.
  107. Greensboro, N.C.-based Cone Health sought approval for a 15,500-square-foot ASC with two ORs, a gastroenterology endoscopy room and a procedure room in Kernsersville, N.C., for $12.7 million.
  108. Tampa, Fla.-based Physician Partners of America is constructing two multispeciality healthcare facilities in Orlando, Fla., and Merritt Island, Fla., that will both prominently feature ASCs. Each campus will tout a 9,060-square-foot ASC as well as more than 4,600 square feet of medical offices.
  109. The Eye Surgery Center of Knoxville (Tenn.) recently opened the Eye Surgery Center in Powell (Tenn.). The center was completed in January.
  110. Oregon Surgical Institute in Beaverton. The new facility is 14,000 square feet and designed as a center of excellence for orthopedics, total joint replacements and spine surgery. The center also hosts pain management cases.
  111. Port Jefferson (N.Y.) Surgery Center held its grand opening ceremony May 12 after its initial opening in January.
  112. Construction has begun on an $86 million expansion to the Omaha (Neb.) VA Medical Center, which will add a 157,000-square-foot ASC slated for completion in summer 2020.
  113. San Marcos, Texas-based Carus Dental opened the Carus Surgical Center, also in San Marcos, April 27. The center offers endodontic, orthodontic and oral surgery services.
  114. Willmar, Minn.-based Carris Health opened its $11 million outpatient surgery center in Willmar.
  115. Liberty Medical Development, a company based in the U.S. Virgin Islands, secured funding for an ASC on St. Croix. The company obtained $5 million in funding, with more than $1.25 million already invested.
  116. Indian River Medical Center is readying to open the Scully Endoscopy Center. Both facilities are located in Vero Beach, Fla. The center will open in 2018.
  117. Dallas-based Children’s Health opened Specialty Center 2, which includes the Live Oak Surgery Center, also in Plano.
  118. Four Bloomington-Normal, Ill., eye care providers are merging to form a new $10 million facility. All optometrists and ophthalmologists at Eye Surgical Associates, McLean County Eye Center, Central Illinois Eye Care and Eyecare Associates will continue at the as-of-yet unnamed merged practice, which will employ about 90 people. The merging practices expect to move into the new facility by August 2019.
  119. Bozeman (Mont.) Health and United Surgical Partners International partnered to build a $20 million ASC in West Bozeman. Construction on the new ASC is expected to begin in 2019.
  120. Baltimore-based University of Maryland Medical System filed a plan to invest $50 million in a new medical center next to the Laurel (Md.) Regional Hospital. The new facility, UM Laurel Medical Center, will feature a surgery center, 24/7 emergency care, behavioral health resources and outpatient programs such as wellness promotion.
  121. Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Vance Thompson Vision is putting the finishing touches on its new facility in Omaha, Neb., set to open in mid-August 2018.
  122. San Jose, Calif.-based Allied Pain & Spine Institute announced the opening of Trinity Surgery Center in San Jose.
