6 charged, accused of abusing 3-year-old using belt, fists, hot water – News 12 New Jersey
NEWARK -
Six people have been arrested in Newark and accused of severely beating a 3-year-old boy with a belt, fists, and by pouring hot water on him.

Patricia Gamarra, 62, Mary Buchan, 55, Patricia Buchan, 28, Bridget Buchan, 23, Natacha Smith, 43 – who is the mother of the victim – and Homer Searcy, 39, were all arrested and charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to the prosecutor’s office, they are all accused of beating the child with a belt and fists, as well as pouring scalding water on him as a form of corporal punishment.
All live in the same house in Newark and are currently being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility.
They are scheduled to make their first court appearance Thursday.
