Montclair murder is one of many in America
Montclair police believe that 55-year-old James Ray III shot Angela Bledsoe, 44, in the Montclair home they shared with a child, who is now in the care of family members.
Bledsoe was pronounced dead after police responding to a wellness check found the woman fatally shot inside her North Mountain Avenue home at 1:17 a.m.
Ray was charged with murder and weapons offenses, and police say the suspect is on the run.
Authorities are searching for Ray, who remains at large, driving a black four-door BMW 328i with New Jersey license plate ZNX68M.
Police believe the suspect is armed and dangerous.
Authorities say Ray told his brother what occurred in a phone call after the shooting and that his brother then notified police.
