Livingston Police Arrest Four on Various Charges in Late July
LIVINGSTON, NJ – In the final days of July, the Livingston Police Department responded to the following three incidents that led to the arrests of four men on charges of criminal mischief, drug possession, child neglect and more.
Last week, police responded to a criminal mischief complaint in the Walgreens parking lot on S. Livingston Avenue, where an individual used his keys to cause damage to another’s vehicle following an incident between the two cars, according to police.
Thanks to some witnesses, police were able to identify Joel Wolf, 77, of West Orange, who was taken into custody and charged with criminal mischief to a motor vehicle. He was released on his own recognizance pending court action.
On Saturday afternoon, a motor vehicle was stopped for a violation on Route 10 and Eisenhower near the traffic circle. Subsequent to investigation, police discovered that the driver, identified as Petrushka Jean-Baptiste, 21, of South Orange, had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear at Livingston Municipal Court.
Jean-Baptiste was taken into custody for the warrant, and the passenger, Abdul Hill, 22, of Maplewood, was taken into custody for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) under 50 grams. Both were released on their own recognizance pending court action.
Earlier this week, a motor vehicle stop was conducted at the intersection of JFK Parkway and South Orange Avenue for motor vehicle violations. According to police, the driver was taken into custody during the investigation for being in possession of CDS under 50 grams as well as hindering apprehension by giving a false name.
It was then discovered that the individual, identified as Lewatte Williams, 29, of Linden, also had active warrants out of Essex, Union and Hudson counties. He was ultimately remanded to the Essex County Jail for the warrants, two of which police said were related to child neglect.
