Dr. Taft Gray Jr., 68, of Scotch Plains, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. The Visitation will be held from 12pm to 2 pm with a Funeral Service beginning at 2pm at the Rossi Funeral Home, 1937 Westfield Ave., Scotch Plains, NJ on Friday, February 25, 2022 . Donations and Contributions can be made in Taft’s memory to Vietnam Veterans of America.

  Dr. Gray was born on February 11, 1954 in Newark, NJ to Taft Sr. and Edna Gray. As a lifelong resident of the Scotch Plains, Taft graduated Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School in 1971. At the young age of 17 he went on to study Social Work at Rutgers University. As the ultimate testament to his own passion for the betterment of others, Dr. Gray enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He proudly served his Country as a Combat Marksman during The Vietnam War.    After many gained experiences at war, Taft insisted on continuing his education and re-enrolled at Rutgers University, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree and met his Best Friend, Donna S. Moore.

  Taft and Donna wed on July 30, 1982 and shortly after moved into their home, in no other place than Scotch Plains NJ. There, the two created countless memories for their small family of 5. With the help of his dedicated wife and energetic children Dr. Gray was able to further pursue his love for education and obtained his Doctorate Degree in Psychology at Kean University.

  Dr. Gray worked as a Social Worker for over 30 years, dedicating his life to various agencies throughout New Jersey’s Forensic Psychology community. He also was a devoted Watchcare Minister for 24yrs where he served in hospitals around Union and Essex Counties.

  Taft enjoyed fishing with son’s, going to the movie theater and dinner dates with his wife, daughter & granddaughters, looking at classic cars with his grandson and working on his beloved computers. He loved music, Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, Karate, boxing, reading and taking walks in the park with his dog.

  Dr. Taft Gray is predeceased by his parents Taft Sr., Enda Gray, as well as his sister Valeria O. Gray. He is survived by his wife of 39yrs., Donna; his two sons Taft III, and Robert (Ozelia); his two daughters Tatanisha “Nikki” Gray-Sellers (Ramon), and Taylor; his 9 cherished grandchildren; and beloved “baby sister” Audrey J. Gray.
