U.S. Junior Amateur qualifiers

June 20, first tee time at 8 a.m.

at Shackamaxon CC, Scotch Plains

Storyline: Wayne’s Robert McHugh, this year’s NorthJersey.com Boys Golfer of the Year as a senior at Wayne Hills, is among more than 60 teens competing for two bids to next month’s U.S. Junior Amateur Championship in New Jersey. Joining McHugh on the list of Garden State heavyweights: Mt. Laurel’s Doug Ergood, Morristown’s Will O’Neill. Westfield’s Sean Taylor, Madison’s Lucas Artigliere and Chatham’s Matt Karrat. The cast of North Jersey standouts includes two from Bergen Catholic: Pompton Lakes’ Jason Salameno and Ridgewood’s Will Celiberti.

June 19, first tee time at 7:30 a.m.

At Knollwood CC, Elmsford, N.Y.

Storyline: North Jersey standouts James Pak of Palisades Park, Westwood’s Christopher Lee, Harrington Park’s Sam Yom, Franklin Lakes’ Brandon Valvano, and Old Tappan’s Chan Park are among more than 90 competing for one of four bids to the 71st Junior Amateur, which is July 16-21 at Baltursol in Springfield.

NJSGA Open qualifier

June 21, tee times 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

At White Beeches G&CC, Haworth

Storyline: Pro Brian Mackey of Echo Lake is among more than 130 golfers slated to compete at this third of four qualifiers for next month’s New Jersey State Golf Association Open Championship. Among the pros: Michael Holiday of Upper Montclair and Kevin Syring of Eligo. The list of amateurs includes Erick Alonso of Knickerbocker. The 98th New Jersey Open is July 24-26 at Montclair in West Orange.
