How to help: Donations of clothes, toys sought – New Jersey Hills
Several towns and organizations are collecting donations or gifts to be distributed to needy families and to charities during the upcoming holidays.
• The Roseland Junior Woman’s Club is collecting new socks and underwear for men, women and children and new or gently used winter scarves, hats and gloves for various shelters in Essex County.
Drop off items in box at Roseland Free Public Library, 20 Roseland Ave., through Tuesday, Nov. 30.

• The annual Giving Tree, formerly located at the Caldwell Community Center, will be done online again this year.
Gifts should be returned unwrapped to the dropbox in Borough Hall, 1 Provost Square, starting Tuesday, Nov. 30 until Monday, Dec. 13.

• The Fairfield Police Department also is marking No-Shave November and Double-Down December. Members of the department may wear beards during the two months if they contribute at least $35 for each month to help raise awareness of men’s health issues. The money will be donated to charity.
• The North Caldwell Police Department also is participating in No Shave November and is selling T-shirts for $20, with a percentage of the proceeds going to St. Jude Children’s Research and the Prevent Cancer Foundation on behalf of the department. To buy a shirt, please come to Police Headquarters, 136 Gould Ave.
• The West Caldwell Police Department is participating in No-Shave November and Double-Down December. All proceeds will go to the family of Bella Pagnotta, a 7-year-old resident who died of acute myeloid leukemia Saturday, Nov. 13.
• Items for the 2021 Marine Toys for Tots Toy Drive may be dropped off at these locations in Caldwell by Friday, Dec. 10: Caldwell Police Department, Rock ‘n’ Joe Coffee Bar, David Chad Beauty Parlor, City Image Barber Shop, Cloverleaf Tavern and La Famiglia Ristorante & Pizzeria.
Toys also may be dropped off at any time in the lobby of the West Caldwell Police Department, 21 Clinton Road.
In Fairfield, drop off new, unwrapped toys by Saturday, Dec. 11 at these locations:
• Police Department next to the municipal building, 230 Fairfield Road.
• Churchill and Stevenson schools.
• Manhattan Bagel, 435 Hollywood Ave.
• Columbia Savings Bank, 271 Passaic Ave.
