‘Pig Roast for Alex’

A”Pig Roast for Alex,” a fund-raiser and family event for a local child in need, now in its 11th year, will take place Sunday, May 20, on the grounds of the Manville-Hillsborough Elks Lodge, 1500 Brooks Blvd, Hillsborough. The outdoor event will have a barbecue, featuring a pig roast, live music, family-oriented activities and a morning motorcycle run. The event is named after it’s first recipient and continues its legacy every year. This year, funds will be donated to the family of Bodyn (“Bo’) Schumacher to offset his medical expenses. Bo was diagnosed in 2017 with Acute Lymphoblasic Lukemia (ALL) just before his 4th birthday.Tickets are $25; $10 for children ages 10 and up; children under 10 are free. Tickets are available at the door and in advance by calling the lodge at 908-725-1717. The day kicks off with a Poker Run at 11 a.m. and barbecue and pig roast takes place from noon to 5 p.m. This year’s event includes live music by local band “Heritage” and BBQ prepared by Olsen’s BBQ of Griggstown. Tricky Tray basket raffle on May 24

Warnsdorfer PTA is holding a luau-themed Tricky Tray basket raffle from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, at the American Legion, 4 JF Kennedy Drive, Milltown. Admission is $25 and includes coffee, dessert, 2 small prize ticket sheets/one large prize ticket sheet. Additional ticket sheets available for purchase at the event. Meets artists in Lambertville on May 20

Vocal concert to benefit Flemington church

A vocal concert presented by ‘Music In The Village’ featuring local high school students is being presented at the Flemington Presbyterian Church, 10 East Main St., Flemington, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday May 20. Music performances will include works from Wolfgang Mozart, Robert Schumann, popular and modern musical theater, Operetta, R&B and pop. Annual street fair

Kenilworth’s Annual Street Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, along the Boulevard between 14th Street to 24th Street, Kenilworth.More than 150-plus exhibitors, crafters, food, kiddie rides, pony rides, live entertainment, local merchants and civic organizations. Admission is free. Garden Discovery Tour on May 22

A Garden Discovery Tour — Presby Memorial Iris Garden will be presented from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22. Adults will join a maturalist for a visit to Essex County’s Presby Memorial Iris Garden with 14,000 irises of 3,000 varieties that produce 100,000 blooms each season. Tanzanian Children’s Fund program

India Howell, founder and executive director of the Tanzanian Children’s Fund, will present a program on this African volunteer program at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, at the Clarence Dillon Public Library. The Tanzanian Children’s Fund provides housing, healthcare, and vital educational opportunities for orphaned and marginalized children in Tanzania’s Rift Valley.
