Storm on Tuesday Downs Trees, Causes Power Outages in South Orange and Maplewood
SOUTH ORANGE AND MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Thunderstorms on Tuesday evening left downed trees and wires throughout SOMA. The PSE&G outage map showed 41 households in South Orange without power, and less than 5 households in Maplewood without power as of 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Restoration of power is expected by 11 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the PSE&G website.
Maplewood police advisories stated that due to downed trees there were road closures on Tuesday on Burnett Avenue between Wellesley Street and Rutgers Street, and on Peach Tree Road between Parker Avenue and Woodside Road.
Rutgers Street was closed from Burnett Avenue to Newark Way, due to wires down in the roadway, according to Maplewood police.
