Pedestrian Death Prompts Rahway Council to Introduce Ordinance to Make Intersection of Lake & Madison a 4-Way Stop

RAHWAY, NJ – The Rahway City Council unanimously introduced an ordinance that will make the intersection of West Lake Avenue and Madison Avenue a 4-way stop at its regular meeting held Monday night.

The public hearing on the measure is scehduled for June 11.

The introduction of the ordinance comes after a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing West Lake Avenue around 7 p.m. on April 26.

Rahway Police Chief John Rodger explained that the plan is to install solar-powered flashing stop signs at the intersection. The estimated cost of the flashing stop signs is $18,000.
