Here are five ways you can support Toms River Police over the next month – wobm.com

National Police Week this week also comes at a time when Toms River Police are calling on the community for support and recruits.

There are five things you or someone you know can do to show support for the men and women in TRPD Blue this week, next week and over the next month.

1. In March, Toms River Police announced that during the month of May the Toms River Police Foundation would be holding a fundraising campaign called ‘Round Up’ where all you have to do is say yes to the restaurant or business you are paying for something at, round-up your order to the next dollar amount.

The leftover change will then go towards the Toms River Police Foundation.

As of now, if you go to Spirits, McDonalds (Silverton), Capone’s Pizza and Pasta and the Four Seasons Diner you can do just that.

You can learn more about ‘Round Up’ at www.tomsriverpolicefoundation.org.

2. How about some lunch or maybe dinner? On Wednesday, May 12, all four of the Jersey Mike’s locations in Toms River will be donating 20-percent of all sales to the Toms River Police Foundation. All you have to do is mention the flyer below or use the code “TRPF” when ordering online, then the money goes to the TRPF.

3. Whether you’re like Happy Gilmore or Tiger Woods or maybe somewhere in between, it’s time to prime your golf swing. On June 23, the Toms River Police Foundation is hosting their inaugural golf outing. You could win prizes for getting a hole in one, longest drive and being closest to the pin. If you’re not quite ready to yell “four!”, you can help out as well with some sponsorships still available. For sponsorship opportunities, email TRPF@TRPolice.org.

4. This ones for the kids. Whether they have an itch to one day become a police officer or just want to learn more about what it’s like to be in law enforcement, the Toms River Police Youth Camp takes place from July 12 through July 16 for those in the 6th, 7th or 8th grade. Campers get to ride in police cars, use police equipment and learn self-defense tactics.Kids can pick up applications at their school guidance office or from the Toms River Police Officer in their school building. You can email GBachonski@TRPolice.org for more information as well.

5. This one is for the adults. The recruitment test process is underway and applications are now available for anyone hearing the call to become a police officer. You can find the application and all the information you need to know at trpolice.org and email Sergeant Vincent Pedalino at vjpedalino@trpolice.org.

“We also want to say THANK YOU to our amazing community for their love and support!,” Toms River Police Spokeswoman Jillian Messina said.
