The Barnegat Police Department referred any inquiries concerning the child’s death to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s office.

“The matter is under investigation,” said Bryan Huntenburg, Press Officer for the Ocean County Prosecutor “We have no further comment at this time.”

The Micciolo family has retained Christopher Conrad, an attorney at Eichen Crutchlow Zaslow to protect their legal interests in ascertaining all of the facts surrounding Corey’s untimely passing.

“I can say on behalf of the family that they appreciate the outpouring of sympathy and love from Corey’s classmates and the community,” Conrad said. “They also appreciate everyone respecting their privacy at this time, while they grieve.”

Posts circulated throughout social media indicate authorities were searching for Christopher Gregor to speak with him regarding his son’s death.  Attorney Conrad was able to confirm that Gregor has been interviewed by police.

Gregor has responded to allegations on Facebook accusing him of child abuse by saying the “sharing of false information will have consequences.” He could not be reached for comment.

Autopsy reports are not yet available determining Corey’s final cause of death.

Principal Toddings sent out a message to Collins families sharing the sad news of the Barnegat first grade child’s passing. He offered counseling for those who needed it.
