JFS offers mental health counseling, emotional support services, education, and community-based resources for individuals and families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We have seen a rise in the need for services specifically for teens in our community as COVID-19 continues to disrupt their daily lives. To meet this need, JFS MetroWest NJ will begin offering a support group for teen girls (ages 14-17), Staying Connected While Apart. This group aims to assist teen girls to better adjust to their new reality, develop coping strategies, and connect with others.
The group will meet virtually for six weeks on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. beginning on May 19. Dates are May 19, 26 and June 2, 9, 16, 23. The group will be facilitated by Kristin Dunne, LCSW. Kristin is a social worker at Jewish Family Service of MetroWest NJ in the Child & Adolescent Department. She works with children, families, and also works with parents to address the mental health and emotional needs of their children.
For more information and to register, contact Kristin Dunne at (973) 637-1749 or kdunne@jfsmetrowest.org. The cost for the six-week session is $120, which has been subsidized by The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey.
