Manchester Police say medical episode may have caused car crash – wobm.com

Manchester Police say a medical episode may have caused a driver to veer cars Bellhaven Court and crash into a house on Monday morning.

The driver was stopped at the intersection of Myrtle Place and Schoolhouse Road around 8:30 am when police said Patricia Roberts, 73, of Forked River suffered a possible medical episode causing her to step on the gas, sending the vehicle across Schoolhouse Road and in between two houses.

The Hyundai Santa Fe ended up hitting some bushes, a gutter and struck an aluminum awning before continuing and then hitting the back corner of a home on Bellhaven Court.

Roberts was conscious and alert when police arrived on scene and had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

Police said that her passenger, Bianca Lehman, 93 year-old of Whiting, was also wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

Roberts was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment and evaluation of apparent non-life-threatening injuries.

Lehman was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment and evaluation of apparent non-life-threatening injuries.

Nobody was inside the residences at the time of the collision.

Police are still investigating the crash but, “the possible medical episode suffered by Roberts appears to be the main contributing factor.”

This crash is being investigated by Manchester Police Patrolman Michael O’Hara.
