Jackson Police urge you to remove valuables, lock cars amid rash of vehicle burglaries – wobm.com

There’s no need to repeat the same message over and over again, but at the same time it does bear repeating.

Lock your cars and take your keys and anything valuable with you as you go.

The latest string of vehicle thefts/burglaries are taking place in Jackson.

Police in Jackson said they responded to several residences on Meadowood Road Friday after calls came in to report a number of vehicle burglaries and attempted burglaries during the overnight hours.

One vehicle owner told police that their 2018 Hyundai was unlocked and someone went in and stole her purse which had her wallet, drivers license, credit cards and other important documents in it.

A second vehicle owner told police that their 2007 GMC was unlocked and someone went in and stolen their wallet which had cash, a drivers license, credit cards and other documents in it.

Jackson Police said they spoke with other residents as well in the area and some spotted 2 men on their security cameras who were trying to get into vehicles but were unable to because they were locked.

They were wearing hooded sweatshirts, police said, but the images weren’t helpful enough to provide enough detail for identification.

In the meantime, police ask that if you do see suspicious activity or know anything in particular about these vehicle burglaries, to call them at 732-928-1111 so they can investigate the matters.

“Residents are reminded again to remove any valuables, including your wallets and purses from your vehicles, and to lock them even if they are parked in your driveway.”
