Child, 2, struck and killed by vehicle leaving home – NJ.com

A 2-year-old child has died after he was hit by a truck Saturday morning in Somerset County.

A 60-year-old Somerset man was backing up his pickup truck to leave a home on Bennetts Lane in Franklin Township when the child was struck around 8:45 a.m., according to township police.

Arriving officers performed life-saving measures until EMS personnel arrived to take the child to a trauma center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Franklin Township Police and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office are conducting an investigation into the incident.

No charges have been announced and additional details about those involved were not released.
