The former manager of Laurita Winery, located in New Egypt, is being charged with Theft for allegedly stealing $40,000 from her now former employer, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer and Plumsted Township Police Chief Earl Meroney announced on Tuesday.
Nancy Proctor, 62, of Ortley Beach, was responsible for collecting payments from food vendors while she worked there for any events taking place at the winery.
Instead of putting the funds into winery accounts, she is accused of diverting it to her own personal PayPal accounts, for her own financial gain between January and November of 2019.
She was charged following an investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Economic Crime Unit and Plumsted Police.
Proctor was arrested on Monday at her current place of employment in Seaside Heights.
She was brought to the Seaside Heights Police Department, where she was processed and released on a summons pending a future court date.
