Montclair Literary Festival: Do the Write Thing Writing Workshops – TAPinto.net

MONTCLAIR, NJ – Is 2021 going to be the year you write your novel? Children’s picture book? Memoir? Mystery? Or do you have a book and are waiting to find an agent or self-publish?

After the success of its workshops last September, Succeed2gether’s Montclair Literary Festival is pleased to present a series of six writing workshops, Do The Write Thing, led by experts in their fields.

Professional food writer Marissa Rothkopf Bates will teach Food Writing: this is the class for you, whether you want to elevate the passages in your fiction, write a cookbook, or create a mouth-watering Yelp review. Self-published author and marketer Eva Lesko Natiello will give you a step-by-step guide so you can Self Publish Like a Pro. Award-winning mystery author Valerie Wilson Wesley will explain pace, character, and setting, essential to writing a stand-out crime novel.

Author and memoir writing professor Benilde Little will guide you in expressing those memories, good or difficult, so that they’ll resonate with readers. Children’s book author and illustrator Lori Richmond will tell you how to fulfill your dream of writing a picture book – from crafting a story to the practicality of book sizes and page counts. And The Book Doctors, Arielle Eckstut and David Henry Sterry, will take you through the entire publishing process – from idea to pitch to finding an agent.

Workshops will take place on Saturday February 27, Saturday March 6 and Sunday March 7 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Each workshop costs $25 and runs for 1.5 hours. You can find more details and registration for all the workshops here.

A portion of each workshop ticket will benefit Succeed2gether, a non-profit organization that addresses unequal access to educational resources by providing free, high-quality enrichment and academic programs to children in need from Essex County and surrounding New Jersey communities.

Succeed2gether’s Montclair Literary Festival will host a special series of author events, Global Voices on March 20 and March 21, 2021, featuring authors and poets from England, Scotland, Ireland, Korea, Iran, Dubai, Sri Lanka, Ecuador, and Spain. More details will be available soon on its Crowdcast channel and on their website here.

The fifth annual Montclair Literary Festival will take place on Saturday October 2, 2021, with a combination of in-person and online events.
