Giving Locally On #GivingTuesday – Baristanet

Giving Tuesday

It’s Giving Tuesday – a generosity movement that unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. This year, more than ever, your local non-profits need so much support.

If you need some inspiration, here are some ways to show some local love:

  • The Montclair Public Library Foundation has remained committed, even during this difficult time, to its mission of raising funds to support the community library–a vital resource to educate, entertain, and enrich. Donations to MPL may be made by check to the Montclair Public Library Foundation, 50 South Fullerton Avenue, Montclair, or online at the Foundation website.
  • The Bloomfield Public Library Foundation has launched its first #GivingTuesday campaign this year, to encourage private giving that will ensure the Bloomfield Public Library can address the needs of its growing community.  Donations can be made online or checks made payable to “The Bloomfield Public Library Foundation” can be mailed to 90 Broad Street, Bloomfield, NJ 07003.
  • The Friends of the Glen Ridge Library relies on the generosity of the community to ensure the enhanced programs and services continue for years to come. Donations make its way to the Glen Ridge Public Library through supporting its programs, events, and services.
  • Montclair Art Museum is dedicated to its mission to inspire and engage people of all ages in their experience with art. The Museum offers several Community Access program that make admission and classes accessible to all. You can donate to MAM online at its website.
  • Jazz House Kids is dedicated to ensure equity and access to world-class music education, support healthy communities through jazz, and celebrate who we are with mutual respect, both on and off the bandstand. Donations can be made online.
  • A donation to Montclair Film allows the organization to bring great films, filmmakers, programs, and events to our region while keeping ticket prices affordable.
  • A donation to S.O.F.I.A (Start Out Fresh Intervention Advocates), will help the organization keep its commitment to empowering the lives of women and their families that have been affected by domestic violence.
  • Donations to Toni’s Kitchen are especially important during this urgent time of need in our community. Donations go to purchasing food and supplies to help them keep up with the demand for fresh, healthy meals for distribution to those in need in our community: families, seniors, children.
  • Since the pandemic , Human Needs Food Pantry added 572 new households to its service—equaling an additional 2,800 people (as of 9/25/20) beyond its usual numbers. The Pantry’s client base includes families and singles who are elderly, disabled, home-bound, unemployed, or underemployed. Donate online.
  • CASA of Essex County promotes the welfare of children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment by providing a safety net of support, advocacy, and mentorship. A donation helps them with their mission.
  • When the COVID-19 pandemic struck last spring, the YMCA of Montclair continued to serve the community despite its doors being closed. As the Y, like so many non-profits, has experienced reduced revenue due to COVID-19, they need your help now more than ever to continue to serve our community. Donate online.
  • Outpost in the Burbs is a non-profit outreach organization dedicated to building community through music, community service, and cultural programs. Donate online here.
